Why aluminum is the default for most homes

The powder coat is baked onto the metal at the factory. It doesn't peel like painted wood or rust like iron. Hose it off once a season and you're done.
Lowest rate of the three
At $75/ft installed it's the lowest rate of the three systems we install, and there's no staining or repainting to budget for later.
Fits any house
Straight black pickets disappear against almost any exterior. Decorative spindle and circle patterns suit older Toronto porches that want some character.
Built to code
Ontario Building Code requires guards at 36" (900 mm) for most decks and porches, 42" (1,070 mm) where the surface is more than 5'11" above grade, with openings a 100 mm sphere can't pass through and no climbable elements. Where we install it
Front porches are the classic aluminum job — concrete steps and a couple of posts. Decks, exterior stairs, and balconies are all standard work, and a lot of our installs are replacements of rusted iron or rotting wood. How much do aluminum railings cost in Toronto?
From $75 per linear foot installed. A straight 20 ft porch run calculates around $1,575–$1,925; a straight 40 ft deck run around $2,925–$3,575, plus HST and before old-railing removal. Stairs need a photo review.
Will aluminum railings rust?
No. Aluminum doesn't rust the way steel and iron do, and the powder-coated finish is baked on rather than painted. That's the practical difference from wrought iron, which needs scraping and repainting every few years in our climate.
What styles and colours are available?
Straight pickets are standard and what most homes get. Decorative options like spindle and circle designs are available. Black is the go-to colour; white and other powder-coat colours can be ordered.
Are aluminum pickets code-compliant?
Yes — our systems use picket spacing under 100 mm (4 inches) so a child can't fit through, with guard heights of 36 or 42 inches depending on how far your deck or porch sits above grade. That's what the Ontario Building Code requires.
Aluminum or glass — how do I pick?

How long does an aluminum railing install take?
Timing depends on the layout and mounting surface. Straight runs are simpler than stairs or multiple landings, and the project schedule is confirmed with your quote.
